Mecheng Design is a company that has come from a background of metal fabrication and manufacturing experience.
Established in 2011The company was initially started in 2011 with the intention of focusing on the coal industry in the Hunter Valley NSW. However, the company was moved to the Cooloola Coast in QLD in 2020 and will now have a broader client base, covering manufacturing and machine design.

I have a farming background and was raised in a small rural town in SE QLD. Spent the first decade of my career in farming and had exposure to medium sized broadacre grain, cattle and sheep farming. Around the Mid 1990's I started in metal fabrication by getting a start at a small engineering workshop in Mackay QLD. I spent ~10 years as a direct employee and contractor with that company and gained a wide set of skills relating to fabrication and assembly of both old and new equipment. During this phase I also had other business in the services industries and direct sales. From there I became interested in the design/engineering component of some of the work I was doing and decided to go and study Engineering.
While studying I worked as a Project coordinator on a very large rail contract which gave me experience at the larger scale of fabrication and procurement.
Since qualifying I have had roles as Design Engineer with Bradken Rail, Senior Engineer with Orica and Engineering Leader with Laminex. These roles have developed my skills as an engineer and project manager. I have mostly been on the mechanical side of design and overall systems functionality. I have worked as designer and also client side lead engineer for large, outsourced design and build projects. This has given me a broad understanding of how to best fit the design with the user requirements.
